The Ritual of the Law could also be called »The Ritual of Marriage«, »The ritual of Divorce« or »The Ritual of Mediation«.

The purpose of the Ritual of the Law is to tear the bonds of the old age, annihilate unlawful laws, liberate Love from the fortress and set up new values.

What the Rite of the Law represents is a Lawful principle by which lovers, man and woman, are to be joined in Love under will. Its purpose is to prevent the general faults in human thought and habits.

It is foremost a protection against misunderstanding the physiology of our bonds in love and partnership.

The rite is most recommended to all who have accepted the law of Thelema, especially before they had begun with any other »practice«, since the consequences of such practice, given the erroneous understanding of Love and profaning Love with its restricted counterpart will in any case be traumatic-dramatic.
